Immigration Resources

Dear Pastors, Clerks, and NWC Pioneer Leaders of the Presbytery of Los Ranchos,
May the grace and peace of Christ be with you. We stand with you in spirit and truth that Jesus came for all people, together in a tradition of welcome, grace and service. As people of faith, we are concerned for persons currently under serious duress for fear of deportation or abandonment, many of whom are served by our churches. We join Christians throughout the ages who welcome the stranger as we would welcome Christ to our midst.
We are offering information on our Presbytery website (see links below) so you can equip the most vulnerable in our midst with knowledge, as well as preparing your church to assist them. For example, we’ve included information highlighting that every individual in the U.S. has constitutional rights and is not required to speak with immigration agents without a valid warrant, whether approached at home or in a place of worship.
As churches we are in a unique position to assist those who are living with deep fear today, including undocumented immigrants, LGBTQIA+ persons, or those whose livelihood maybe affected by administrative changes. Thank you for living out of faith and love, following the prophetic words of Micah to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God (Micah 6:8). In the words of one pastor of a church serving persons in our Presbytery, “This is the calling of the church in every season and under every administration: to be a beacon of hope, a voice for the voiceless, and a force for transformative love in the world.”
We hope you find these resources useful. They are by no means exhaustive, and we invite you to send us any your church finds important today, so we can share them as well.
