Indonesian Presbyterian Church Celebrates 40th Anniversary
By Andrew Maramis
“The Indonesian Presbyterian Church of Fullerton celebrated its 40th Anniversary in August 2024 with a series of events that honored its rich history and looked toward the future. The month kicked off on August 3 with “Malam Sabda & Nada,” a Praise Night where IPC united with other Indonesian churches in worship and praise, setting the tone for a month of reflection and celebration.

Throughout the following Sundays, the church presented a three-part documentary series chronicling its 40-year journey. The first episode aired on August 4, revisiting IPC’s humble beginnings and early challenges. The second and third episodes on August 10 and August 18, respectively, highlighted the milestones that shaped its growth and ministry.
The official anniversary on August 12 built anticipation for the grand celebration on August 18. The service opened with a liturgical dance, creating a sacred atmosphere. Reverend Jeff Bridgemann delivered the sermon, and distinguished guests, including Reverend Jonas Hayes (Grace First Pres) and Reverend Sandra Kim (PLR Stated Clerk), were in attendance.

In a tradition inspired by the Israelites’ altars of remembrance, IPC added a new stone to its commemorative monument, symbolizing God’s enduring presence in the church’s 40-year journey. This moment was a powerful reminder that IPC’s story is one of faith, resilience, and divine guidance, with many chapters yet to be written.
The anniversary celebration culminated in a Family Camp retreat at Pine Summit Campgrounds in Big Bear the weekend of August 30th – September 2nd. In the serene embrace of nature, the congregation gathered for reflection, fellowship, and renewal. Much like the Israelites’ sacred journeys, this retreat was a spiritual pilgrimage, allowing members to connect deeply with one another and with God. This final event concluded the anniversary festivities and set the stage for the next chapter in IPC’s enduring story of faith and community.”
