A thriving church is an action not an institution! The myriad of our PCUSA missions and ministries in our nation and world are ‘knock-your-socks-off’ inspiring! In this Learning Conversation we will be lifting up stories from Matthew 25, real time ministries from our Special Offerings and the extraordinary ministries of our Mission Co Workers around God’s world. These stories will preach!
The Rev. Jeanie Shaw is our Ministry Engagement Advisor for the Synods of Southern California and Hawaii, Pacific and Alaska Northwest, connecting churches and Presbyteries with the Mission and Ministry of our PCUSA. Jeanie’s passion for mission was ignited when she served with Mother Theresa in Calcutta, India; leading her to study and serve in short term mission around the world. She is a member of the National Response Team for Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, has served three New Church Developments/ New Worshipping Communities and as a Coach for NWCs and loves telling the stories of the Kingdom of God.
Make Changes: Working Through Profound Loss with Purpose

KimTurner will discuss the tragic suicide of her 16-year-old son, Patrick, what she has learned about teen mental health, her faith, and how she discovered the strength to create the non-profit Patrick’s Purpose Foundation (www.patrickspurposefoundation.org) in honor of her son.

Kim grew up near Seattle and received her BA from Scripps College, and her MBA from Claremont Graduate University. She worked in accounting until starting a family, and then had the privilege of being a stay-at-home Mom to four children. She is a member at St. Mark Presbyterian Church and currently serves as an Elder, as well as co-chair of the Peace & Justice Commission. She enjoys travel, reading, exercising, and most of all family time.
