Join New Hope Presbyterian Church and St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church to Celebrate their Merger

Jan 6, 2023

In a testament to what our mighty Lord can do, New Hope Presbyterian Church and St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church of Anaheim are pleased to invite you to join them in celebrating their merger. The celebration will be held on Saturday, January 28th, 2023, starting at 5:00 p.m., at the church campus located at 2580 West Orange Avenue in Anaheim.

In late 2019, through an introduction from Forrest Claassen, Pastor Chineta Goodjoin of New Hope and Pastor Jason Micheli of St. Paul’s met for coffee and shared the stories of each congregation. Then, in January of 2020, the Sessions of each congregation met and began the process of getting to know each other. Despite different racial compositions, the two churches focused on their common love for the Lord and their common desire to be a beacon of hope at the corner of Orange and Magnolia in Anaheim.

Although Covid prevented in-person meetings, the two churches continued their discussions. In June of 2020, New Hope and St. Paul’s reached an agreement regarding the management and shared ownership of the property. The two churches are extremely proud that they worked cooperatively to redesign the Sanctuary and repair the remainder of the campus.

Resurrection and Hope

In 2022, St. Paul’s made the decision to merge with New Hope. The joint story of each congregation is represented symbolically in the stained-glass cross which adorns the Sanctuary.

Please join us on January 28th, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. for an ecclesiastical celebration of the merger! A special dinner will follow in the Fellowship Hall. Please use the button below to RSVP for the celebration and dinner. Hope to see you there!
