Syria Lebanon Network Coming To Southern California In September
The Syria Lebanon Partnership Network invites you to be part of their Annual Gathering at Claremont Presbyterian Church, September 20-22, 2022. It will be a hybrid event and feature the Network leadership, including our own Tim McCalmont and others from around the country and the Middle East. The in-person format will be the first time this event has been held on the West Coast.
The theme is We Choose Abundant Life. Content will include materials provided by pastors and church leaders from the Middle East. Presenters include Rev. Najla Kassab, Pastor from the National Evangelical Synod of Syria and Lebanon and the current President of the World Communion of Reformed Churches along with her husband Rev. Joseph Kassab, General Secretary of the National Synod of Syria and Lebanon. Also presenting will be Luciano Kovacs, PC(USA) World Mission Area Coordinator for the Middle East and Europe. Together with Elmarie Parker, Mission Liaison for Syria and Lebanon, they will bring a current picture of the situation on the ground and how churches are facing the challenges of the ongoing crisis in both countries.
The gathering will begin Tuesday, with getting-to-know-one-another time followed by dinner. Wednesday’s schedule includes presentations, a panel discussion with mission partners in the Middle East and will conclude with an authentic Mediterranean supper prepared by Syrian families who have relocated to California. They will also share their experiences and how they have maintained family connections in their homeland. Thursday will include breakfast, worship, and a meeting to discuss plans for the SLPN in the coming year.
Registration is $100 per person for full-time in-person guests, $50 per person for commuter, Wednesday-only guests, $25 for virtual attendees.
The Doubletree Hotel, two blocks from the church, has blocked rooms for use during the gathering at a reduced rate of $144/night when reserved by September 2.
