We are pleased to announce that our Executive Presbyter, Steve Yamaguchi, has been called to an exciting new work as Dean of Students at Fuller Theological Seminary. His work with Los Ranchos will conclude June 30 and he will begin his new call to Fuller on August 1, 2014.
One of the joys of Presbyterian theology and practice is that the work of the church is a shared endeavor. Our pastors, staff, and even our “Pastor to Pastors” are significant contributors to our work. With Steve’s departure, we will miss the gifts of leadership that he has offered for the last 11 years. Significantly, Steve’s primary gifts have been in recognizing and empowering others to do their work well. In that Spirit, the work and ministry to which we are called will continue to be inspired and empowered by God’s own Spirit and we are excited to continue to the journey.
The Spirit of collegiality and innovation that has been present in this presbytery before and during Steve’s tenure will continue to shape our approach to ministry. We seek to follow the call to fresh expressions of God’s church and to live in courage as God leads us “from the palace to the streets.” With joy for Steve in his new call, we embrace this moment as one more opportunity to follow God’s direction for our ministry in the future.
