ST. MARK’S PEACE AND JUSTICE COMMISSION PRESENTS:“SLAVERY AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING: WHAT IT IS, WHY IT IS, AND WHAT IS BEING DONE TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE”

Special Guest Speaker KAY BUCK, Executive Director of CAST-LA (Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking)

DID YOU KNOW? Nearly 12.3 million people—or about one-third of California’s total population—are working in some form of forced labor worldwide? Of those, nearly 2.5 million are estimated to have been trafficked.

DID YOU KNOW? California is one of the top four destination states for trafficking victims in the U.S?

Kay Buck has had over 20 years of experience in the field of human rights at local, state, national and international levels. Following the infamous El Monte sweatshop case of 1995, CAST was created to not only help the victims of trafficking but also work towards its prevention.Unfortunately, even Orange County is not immune to this problem. Kay has been a leader in this field and we are fortunate to have her with us!
