Interfaith Effort with
local Presbyterian Churches

A couple of Presbyterian churches have been instrumental in forming an Orange County affiliate of Family Promise, which is an interfaith, inter-Presbyterian organization to provide shelter and counseling to newly homeless families with children, and we hope that there are some other Los Ranchos churches that might consider joining them.

Family Promise will open once thirteen congregations are found that will house up to fourteen people from 5:30 PM to 7 AM for one week every three months.  Nine congregations are participating so far, and they hope to open the facilities in October.  There will be a Day Center with showers, washing machines, computers and phones, where the families can be during the day, for job hunting and counseling by a full-time director.  There will also be a fifteen passenger van to transport them to and from the Day Center, and to make sure that the kids are able to stay in their own schools.

The involved congregations so far are Christian and Jewish,  including three Presbyterian churches with more considering participating.  Family Promise of Orange County is  just starting to seek financial support, and are hoping that Los Ranchos Presbyterian churches might consider supporting them financially, too.

If you are willing to have them come to your church or group to tell their story, please contact ,Bernie Jeltema of Tustin Presbyterian, at 714.730.5388 or click link to email
